Objetor Griego condenado a 3 años de cárcel

"El caso de Lazaro Petromelidis tiene una historia de más de 15 años. Se declaró objetor en marzo de 1992, en una época en que Grecia no reconocía este derecho (...) Ha pasado por una docena de juicios y ha sido encarcelado 3 veces. (...) Esta nueva sentencia viola el artículo 14 parrafo 7 del Pacto Internacional de Derechos Civiles y Políticos, del que Grecia es parte. (...) LazarosOn 20 May, Greece conscientious objector Lazaros Petromelidis has again been sentenced in absentia to three years imprisonment on two charges of insubordination by the Naval Court of Piraeus. This means that there is again an arrest warrant for Lazaros Petromelidis, and he is in imminent danger of imprisonment.

Lazaros Petromelidis' case has a history of more than 15 years. He declared his conscientious objection in March 1992, at a time when Greece did not recognise the right to conscientious objection.
